The Story

The Shaped Caraco is characterized by its attached stomacher, drawing focus to the wearer's waist. While this style demonstrates a separately cut and attached stomacher, historically, the front panel can be found both cut in line or attached like this. Like other Caracos of the period, the bodice and skirts are cut as one, eliminating a waist seam and lengthening the look of the torso.

This caraco pins closed in the center front. Its comfortable fitted sleeves follow the natural curve of the arm, ending just below the elbow. The shaped front caraco features a fitted back with pleats at the sides and back to accommodate various skirt supports, petticoats, and accessories. The Shaped Front caraco creates a beautiful 18th-century appearance without needing a full gown.

To ensure the best fit, measurements must be taken while wearing stays, as this gown is designed to be worn with proper 18th-century undergarments.
